THE UGLY HAPPENINGS AT THE S. D. DOMBO UNIVERSITY THAT YOU MUST KNOW AND ACT UPON

Image
A concerned native of the Upper West region writes to question the leadership of SDD-UBIDS. Read full article below. Fundamentally, writing becomes virtually needless if it does not highlight the many wrongs of society and seek to address same. In many instances, writers especially activists would inter-alia crave the indulgence of the reading public to things that might hitherto be hidden from many. Perhaps, writing, to advocate, to advocate is a call to duty of other stakeholders in act with varying strengths and perspectives, in having a problem solved. For sometimes now, many of us focus our lenses and pens only on the politician, allowing civil and public servants to have their way by orchestrating many acts for their personal aggrandizement. Unfortunately, when such acts are brought to the limelight, the blames are shifted on the politician and the cycle continues. It is my plea that, on issues that are of public interest, we discuss them as such. This piece shall basically ask s...

WHAT EXPLAINS THE "KIDNAPPED" TAKORADI "PREGNANT" WOMAN'S DRAMATIC BEHAVIOUR?

Image
Predictably,  public reactions and counter reactions towards media reportage on the  alleged kidnapping story of the self acclaimed  pregnant Takoradi woman, Josephine Mensah have been chaotic in every passing day, making many observers  more worried and confused. As a concern citizen and Clinical Health Psychologist whose professional duty is to OBSERVE, PREDICT, and MODIFY deviant human behaviours, I wish to share my humble professional opinion on this endless controversial issue which currently gets everybody talking in a "direction less" fashion.  From where I sit, there are three things in the current ongoing debate that need to be determined namely PSEUDOCYESIS, MALINGERING or REALITY in terms of Josephine Mensah's pregnancy plus her kidnapping. Case closed !!! For the avoidance of doubt, I will like to be as simple as a "P1 teacher" in this lesser known difficult field of psychology so that at the end of my analysis, all and sundry would appreciate the is...

HOW IS INTEGRITY PART OF THE JOURNEY?

Image
Integrity is the ability to stand by an idea in truth, principle and unrelenting commitment. Largely, integrity is a product of a process keenly and deliberately pursued irrespective of challenges. It is never an event. It may take decades to build integrity.  Conversely, integrity can be destroyed within seconds. It is the more reason why everyone must develop integrity and guard same even at the last drop of your blood. A man without integrity is an overly drank man who stumbles around unconsciously. He knows no shame and see good and bad as normal. His thoughts and dreams are those that unfairly undermine others for his own gains. As young people, we ought to be mindful of the journey we are pursuing. It is a long but thorny journey. Much of integrity is needed not half way but the entire journey. If we do not make that conscious effort to hold on to integrity, we cannot get it by luck or magic. Our decisions must be reflective of this fundamental believe and principle of...

HON. CLETUS SEIDU DAPILAH DONATES STREETLIGHT LAMPS TO IMPROVES THE LIGHTENING SYSTEM IN SAINT JOSEPH HOSPITAL

Image
HubThe Member of Parliament for Jirapa Municipality Hon. Cletus Seidu Dapilah came to the aid of Saint Joseph Hospital by helping to improve the abysmal lightening system of the hospital by providing streetlight lamps. The darkness at night was in deed  a worry for staff, students and patients in the hospital especially at night.  The Saint Joseph  Hospital which is a missionary hospital has served the people of Jirapa and others outside Jirapa since 1953. The quality of health care delivery in the hospital make patients from within and outside the Municipality to visit the facility both during  day and at night. However, one major challenge of the hospital is its poor lightening system especially when night falls. The darkness at night could creates an enabling environment for criminals to operate. Unscrupulous people can take advantage of the darkness to steal properties of the hospital and patients at night.  The darkness also make movement at night dangerous...

ONE VIRTUOUS MAN WORTH MILLIONS

Image
Warm greetings from my humble chalet faraway in the North, Pavuu - Lawra, to be precise. Permit me to start this message with some African Proverbs; 1. That, "until the lion has his own historians, the tales of hunting will always glorify the hunter". But until we, the people of North, write our own stories and write them very strongly and get to praise our own for, even the infinitesimal achievements chalked, some outsiders will always bask in the avoidable indignation of us. 2. That, "it is when long drought visits a community with its attendant famine,  that all farmers and everyone feel the importance of the farmer hero". Simply say, it's only when an austere predicament strikes in a community that we get to know and feel a caring person in the community.  3. "When the moon is shining the cripple becomes hungry for a walk". The positives of a virtuous man if even obscure, will make the blind man leaps with joy.  4. And so, my wise grandpa of blesse...
