MoFaJ calls for Justice on the murder of Ibrahim Mohammed (Kaaka)

The Movement for Fairness and Justice (MoFaJ) led by Mr. Eric Murphy on Tuesday June 2021 in a press release calls on the government of Ghana to let justice prevail following the murder of Ibrahim Mohammed a native of Ejura in the Ashanti region who was also known to be a nationalist and an active member of #FIXTHECOUNTRY campaigners.

The Movement calls on the government through the minister for interior to launch an investigation into the underlying factors that resulted to the murder of Kaaka. "We wish to call on the government through the minister for interior to as a matter of urgency, launch a full-scale probe into the he event leading to his murder" they stated.

They also expressed their disappointment on the actions of the police and the military which they described as "unprofessional posturing" that led to the killing of two individuals and some injured, during a protest by the youth of Ejura for Justice over the murder of one of them. "For how long can the state continue to watch its citizens being killed" they rhetorically questioned.

According to them (MoFaJ), they have kept eyes on the issues that have been arising between organizers of #FIXTHECOUNTRY and the Ghana Police Service and in their view, they think the laws are been abused by the people who are supposed to make sure that the laws work effectively in the country.

They again used the opportunity to extend their heartfelt condolences to the families of those who have been killed in the quest for Justice, but however pledged their total support for the organizers of #FIXTHECOUNTRY because they think it is time to fight against injustice and discrimination by state actors.

They concluded by indicating that, the murder of this nationalist and campaigner for #FIXTHECOUNTRY, Ibrahim Mohammed must not be "swept under the carpet". They therefore call on Civil Society Organization, Faith-Based organizations, the media and youth to rise and speak to the country's democracy.

MOVEMENT FOR FAIRNESS AND JUSTICE (MoFaJ)

Press Release

29-06-2021

"A CALL FOR JUSTICE ON THE MURDER OF IBRAHIM MOHAMMED(KAAKA), A NATIONALIST AND MEMBER OF #FIXTHECOUNTRY#

The Movement for Fairness and Justice has followed with dismay, the murder of Ibrahim Mohammed who has been actively playing his role as a patriotic citizen of Ghana. With heavy heart, we condemn in no uncertain terms, the dastardly uncivilized act by the unknown hoodlums.

We wish to call on the government through the minister of interior to as a matter of urgency, launch a full-scale probe into the events leading to his murder.

We wish to also express our disappointment over the unprofessional posturing of the state security forces, whose acts led to avoidable brutalities and the killing of some youth in Ejura who seek justice for Kaaka. For how long can the state continue to watch its citizens being killed?

The inactions of government in such instances is pointing out to the heightened perception among citizens, of government promoting a culture of silence in the country.

We have been following the ensuing matters between organizers of #fixthecountry# and the Ghana Police Service. In our view, the Law is being abused and in some cases applied capriciously and whimsically by the very people who suppose to apply the laws of Ghana equally to protect all citizens of this country.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of those who have been killed. We however wish to pledge our support and solidarity to the organizers of #fixthecountry#. It is high time all of us joined hands to protest against injustice, the systemic decay, discrimination and intolerance by state actors. We shall contribute our mite to rejuvenate and save our nation from obvious lawlessness and legal dictatorship.

The notice must be served that, the killing of Kaaka and shooting of some youth at Ejura cannot be swept under the carpet like many others. Justice must be pursued by any means possible.

We are calling on Civil Society Organizations, Faith-Based Organizations, the media and the youth of this country to rise and speak out! We must come together to save our democracy."

Thank you.
