Teacher Unions call on management of GES to review their promotion process

The Teacher Unions comprising of Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Ghana Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana (CCT-GH) in a letter to the Director General  of Ghana Education Service (GES) demands for a review on their promotion development.

According to the letter dated, 7th June 2021, they explained that out of 46,486 candidates who sat for the promotion aptitude test this year 2021, only 29,465 candidates, representing 63.3% were successful.

According to them, those who passed the test received their congratulatory message and those who failed also received messages that they did not pass the test. However, some of the candidates were asked to submit documents to the Human Resource  at the GES headquarters for verification but were subsequently told that they were part of those who failed. This therefore did not go down well for the Teacher Unions.

The Teacher Unions in their letter said they are not happy with the development "since it compromises the sanctity and integrity of the aptitude test and results". They therefore gave the management of GES an ultimatum of four days thus from 7th June, 2021 to 11th June 2021 to review the promtion development else they will be compelled to take a different line of action which they refered to in their letter as "disturbance".
