TUTAG calls on its members not to comply to the call off of their strike by NLC
It has been notified to the public that the Technical Universities Teachers Association Ghana, TUTAG was to go on a strike after a brief press conference.
According to a letter from their press conference, some of the outlined reasons for their strike include;
The condition of service of TUTAG members expired since 2006. Though government was called upon several times to get them new services, their call was to no avail.
Also, though government has agreed in writing that they are privileged to enjoy condition of services same as other universities, that is yet to be implemented.
They also added that, their 2018/2019 research arrears due to TUTAG members has still been pending. And despite the promises by government, tier- two payments for TUTAG members going on retirement has since not commence
Based on the above reasons, the Tertiary Universities Teachers Association Ghana (TUTAG) came to a consensus that no lecturer should invigilate, teach or mark examination.
Later, News came from NLC ordering that the strike must not come off. However TUTAG, after taking their final decision after their press conference has ordered its members not to comply to NLC's order to call off the strike action. This means that the strike continues and therefore no lecturer with effect from tomorrow 14th June, 2021 is to continue duties for their decision to go on a strike stands still untill further notice.
