It is never a misconception to say politicians venture into politics to enrich themselves - Oswald Ali to Bin Salih
Joseph Oswald Ali, a renowned journo in the Upper West Region has punched holes into the speech of the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, during Wednesday's swearingh-in ceremony of the 8 confirmed MDCEs held at the SEM- B Lodge in Wa.
He refuted claims by the minister suggesting that the opinion held by many claiming people who go into politics often do so ostensibly to amass wealth in order to enrich themselves is a misconception.
He said it's erroneous on the part of the minister to say so when he is very aware of how MDCEs and other public officials involved themselves in corrupt deals auctioning government vehicles to themselves, erecting mansions, buying state lands among others.
According to him, Dr. Hafiz may just be pretending but in actual fact, he is clearly in the know that in reality, party politics in this part of the world is about amassing wealth from every possible means available to the person.
He intimated that the primary aim of the MDCEs in the region is usually not about bringing development to the people but to enrich themselves with development only coming as secondary.
On the President's reasons for the renomination of the two failed MDCE nominees for the third attempt per the minister's account, the ace journalist lambasted the president for what he described as a disregard for the people of Lawra and Jirapa Municipalities.
Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih during his speech said President Akufo-Addo had decided to stick with the nominees because he believes those are the people he feels comfortable working with.
But Oswald sharply shot down that assertion saying, the President was rather taking the people for granted since he is only preoccupied by those he feels comfortable working with at the expense of the interests of the people having failed to consider the reason behind the nominees' rejection by the people.
He posited that the President's decision to renominate Mr. Martin Bomba-Ire and Bombanya-Amadu for Lawra and Jirapa Municipalities respectfully is testament to the fact that there is nobody in Lawra and Jirapa with the expertise and fit enough to man those offices which he is said, is inimical to the Municipalities and a dent on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in those constituencies.
The fearless journo meanwhile also faulted the Regional Minister for his failure to admonish MDCEs who refuse to stay in their respective districts to work but often have to burn fuel everyday to go to their districts everyday and come back to spend the night in Wa Municipal.
This he said, is done at a cost to the taxpayer and causes a financial burden to the Assemblies that already struggle to raise enough revenue for accelerated development.
Joseph Oswald Ali said these Wednesday, October 13, 2021, during Sungmaale FM's late afternoon Bongara program.
