Hon. Denis Andaban, NDC communication officer for DBI |
In a radio discussion at Tumpaani FM on Thursday 4th November 2021, Denis Andaban, famously called "The Village Boy From DBI" highlighted some of the contributions of Hon. Dr. Sebastian Sandaare, Member of Parliament for the Daffiama Bussie Issa in the education sector of the district.
He established the fact that education is the only way through which people at the Northern part of Ghana can triumph, as he put it "education is our cocoa up here in the North" . This is because it is the best way of helping reduce the dependency ratio at the Northern part of Ghana and so must be held in high esteem.
In view of this, the Honourable member of Parliament for Daffiama, Bussie, Issa constituency has taken numerous steps to enhance academic excellence in the constituency.
The most common interventions include but not limited is the sponsoring of the Ghana Education Service to Conduct Mock for BECE candidates. This he has been doing annually.
The passionate communicator, also stated that, the lawmaker has given a seed capital of GH¢ 10,000 each to the various paramount areas of his constituency to fuel education. This seed capital is expected to be used to sponsor brilliant but needy students in those areas. He explained that payment of MP common fund has not been consistent and students who need urgent support can be waiting for common fund, the rational behind the educational endowment fund. According to him, it is the expectation of sons and daughters, NGOs, Philanthropists and all other stakeholders to contribute to the sustainability and utilization of the fund.
Beyond this, he continually support many students in various tertiary institutions annually
He revealed that, Hon Sebastian Sandaare is also planning to introduce a teacher motivation package for hardworking teachers especially those who accept postings to deprived schools in the district. This, he believes, will motivate teachers to be on their toes in improving educational standards in the district.
He also used the opportunity to reveal to candidates that, the MP has promised to sponsor the best male and female students that will emerge from the BECE. The support for them will start from the Senior High School to the Tertiary level. All these are geared towards enhancing the standard of education in the DBI and enouraging the youth to take education seriously.
