Hon. Wing Commander Eric Dakurah declares his intention to contest the 2024 Parliamentary seat for Nadowli-Kaleo constituency.
Wing Commander Eric Dakurah, an ex military officer and former District Chief Executive (DCE) for the then Nadowli district under the watch of His Excellency John Agyekum Kuffour, has declared his intention to contest the 2024 Parliamentary seat for the Nadowli-Kaleo constituency.
Speaking to Barrister Enoch, the morning show host of Tumpaani 88.5 FM, during his morning show, the former DCE states emphatically that he has not completed his developmental plans for the district before he left office as a DCE and so he is willing to come back and complete his plans for the district, for he has his district at heart but can no more solicit for support for the district if he is not put into any office hence his intention to contest the 2024 Parliamentary seat. However, his ability to come back and complete his plans for the district lies in the hands of the people he added.
When been quizzed on his take in previous DCEs not using the DCE's bungalow after he left office, he said every leader has their style of leadership however, every leader according to him must "operate centripetally and not centrifugally" thus every leader must empathize with their subordinates to know their feelings and worries other than distancing from them.
The former DCE added that, every leader must allow honesty, respect, humility and above all unity to take their lead in their leadership and that leadership is a team work because no single leader can perform effectively.
Speaking on the uncompleted Nadowli market, he reiterates that he should not be blamed for its incompletion though it started during his tenure. According to him, he did his part as a DCE by soliciting for a project for the district but he has no idea about the money involved in the building however it was left between government and the contractor so the contractor is the right person to explain why the market is not yet completed since he is still alive. "When a chief asks government to build a project for his community, does government give the money to the chief ?" he humorously questioned. He therefore urged constituents to stop the chastise on him.
