DBI: The People of Fian Launched A new Traditional Festival.

The people of Fian, in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa district in the Upper West Region, yesterday celebrated a maiden traditional festival known as "Danzena Kulugri" festival.

The newly instituted festival is the initiative of the chief of the area, Fian -Naa Bambieu Baping and his elders, to protect the history, values and tradition of the community and to use same as vehicle of community development.

Hundreds of sons and daughters gathered for the maiden event as the youth showcased their knowledge of the history of the community through drama. Various dancing groups also added to the euphoria of the celebration.

The community is known for its great tradition. Highly spiritual places such as "tamboli, Tampia, Bulikpara, Monlore, Danzena" and the famous Fian-Sugmaare, make the community rich in culture and tradition and obviously a tourism potential in the area.

Apart from the chiefs and elders from the area who graced the occasion, the District Chief Executive, Hon Nadi Imoro Sanda, Representatives of the Member of Parliament, Hon Sebastian Sandaare,  Political Party Representatives and other important dignitaries made the program a day to remember.
