"The New Land" - A Poem By PDK Le Griot

"The New Land"

Tears running down my chic

Ah, soiled, defiled, oppressing land!

It has listened to no voice;

it has accepted no correction.

it has not drawn near to its inhabitants

The leaders within it

are roaring lions;

My heart burdened with pain and regret

The land....

The land is becoming bitter

When I thought it is better

The land has become a disgrace

Instead of becoming a Graceland

The land is now a tail

The land is now a prisoner

The land need to be bailed

Oo what a new bitterness

Oo hail mother land

Oo where are the resources

Gold, timber, diamond, bauxite...

Oooo the land was blessed but

The land is struckdown with a disease

Oo what a sudden deviation of dreams

The land has become whimsical

Instead of becoming classical

Our hearts, very dirty

Our minds, very filthy

Cold blood everywhere

We were enemies to weapons

Now friends to weapons

We were unfriendly to killing

Now friendly to killing

Ahhh The New land....

Hmm we've lost our values

So there's a need of "Sankofa

 Oh oh "The new land"

So poisonous and dangerous..

Ah soiled and defiled.
