Lawra MP Cures Propaganda On The Citation Of Boreholes.

The Member of Parliament for the Lawra Constiturncy, Hon Bede Ziedeng has refuted claims that he has cited a borehole very close to a public toilet.

A statement released by the secretary of the MP clarify the issues by describing the spurious comments being shared through social media as " mischievous" and "ill-informed."

Below is the released setting the records straight.

"RE: HOW CAN YOU DRILL A BOREHOLE CLOSE TO A PUBLIC TOILET TO PRODUCE PURE WATER-A REJOINDER

The attention of the office of the member of Parliament for Lawra has been drawn to the above comment which was posted on some social media platforms and in particular the Lawra fm platform. That comment is not only mischievous but also ill-informed. This office believes that the comment was intended to course disaffection for a project which is well intended.

Now the facts:

1.The site of the borehole is nowhere near a public toilet. The so called public toilet is about 100metres away from the site of the borehole.

2. There are buildings in between the public toilet and the site of the borehole.

4. It is a well acknowledged fact known by all experts in this field that the depth of a borehole is such that the waste of a public toilet can hardly affect it.

5. The topography of the area clearly shows that the site of the borehole is on a higher ground than the site of the public toilet which is the subject of the complaint made, and therefore any waste emanating from the public toilet will naturally flow downwards and not upward as to affect the quality of water from the borehole.

6. At any rate most houses and bungalows have both facilities within them ie a borehole and toilet with a manhole and sewage systems and yet the quality of the water produced from the borehole is not affected.

7. From above facts it is clear that the writer is misinformed as it is difficult to understand why any suggestion of pollution of the water from the drilled- well can be made.

ACTION TAKEN SO FAR.

As people concerned about the health of the people, as soon as the drilling was completed, a sample of the water,( as is normally required for the use of underground water as portable water) , was taken to the Water Research Institute of CSIR in Accra for testing, analysis and certification.

RESULTS:

The results of the testing has been given and a copy is attached herein.

The results have confirmed the suitability of the water to be used for whatever purpose. Infact the experts have described the water from the borehole as being near perfect. The water is therefore fit for purpose and for use in the manufacture of pure water.

The above comments should therefore be disregarded and treated with contempt. The member of Parliament is for the people and this facility will provide the women of the Lawra constituency, an opportunity to make a little income from the sale of pure water. Thank you all and God bless us all.
