Nadowli Community Team, For The Second Time Emerges Champion In The Second Edition of Azumah Inter-Community Football Gala



Nadowli Community Team which doubled as the host community has been crowned overall champions for the second time in the second edition of the Azumah Inter-Community Football Gala which took place on the 3rd and 4th of December 2022 in Nadowli, the district capital of the Nadowli/Kaleo District.

Azumah Resources Limited, a gold exploration company based in Nadowli in the Upper West Region, as one of its ultimate goals of fostering unity in the Upper West Region, has organized for the second time an Inter-Community Football Gala comprising of eight different communities namely, Nadowli, Papu, Charikpong, Sombo, Goli/Serekpere, Yaga, Kaleo and Takpo all in the Upper West Region. Nadowli community team, the second time champions however emerged winners after beating Goli/Serekpere 2 – 0 in the final match therefore leaving Goli/Serekpere second in the tournament. 

Kaleo on the other hand became 3rd after beating Charikpong community team 2 – 1 whilst competing for the third and fourth positions in the tournament.


AWARDS

The overall champions, thus Nadowli community team went home with golden medals, a football, a set of jersey, an undisclosed amount of cash and the golden trophy with the 2nd community, Goli/Serekpere being awarded with silver medals, a set of jersey, a football and an undisclosed amount of cash whilst the 3rd community won bronze medals, a football and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Meanwhile, the best footballer of the tournament went to the Nadowli community team’s striker, Gaary Philip whilst Nasiru Isahaku and Neoyele Wahabu both from the Goli/Serekpere community won the goal’s king after scoring four goals and best goalkeeper respectively in the tournament.

The Community Relations Manager, Nana Akesseh, in her speech during the closing ceremony thanked all and sundry for the massive turn up to the program as well as congratulated all the teams for their victory and wished the others best of luck next time.

Lambussie Young Stars Volleyball Club Smashes Host Team to be Crowned Champions in Azumah Volleyball Tournament
