A Couple Donates Texts Books And Solar Reading Lamps to Schools In Charikpong
Dr. Mark Malangko and his wife Valeria Malangko, as part of their benevolence to students in remote communities have on Friday, February 25, 2023 donated text books and solar reading lamps to schools at Charikpong in the Nadowli-Kaleo District of Upper West Region.
At the durbar in Charikpong, Mr. and Mrs. Malangko donated 1,460 text books of which 730 are mathematics and 730 being English language for all upper primaries including 952 solar reading lamps for students in the various Junior High Schools at Charikpong and its surrounding communities.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mark who is also a native of the Charikpong community told the students who were present that they did not get some of those teaching and learning materials at the time they were students but students are lucky today to have access to all types of teaching and learning materials like text books, mobile phones including electricity among others that will aid in their studies. He therefore urged all the students to use the materials donated to them effectively so as to improve the academic performance of schools in Charikpong.
Meanwhile, a representative of the Charikpong traditional leaders thanked Dr. Mark and his wife Valeria for their benevolence to the Charikpong community and also suggested that students should be tested on the books that have been donated to them adding that "this will compel the students to read the text books". He again urged parents whose children will get the reading lamps to ensure that children use them for the purported goal.
The gathering included Chiefs and elders of Charikpong, parents, Assembly members, students, teachers Ghana Education Service director representative, District Chief Executive representative and other stakeholders.
