The items donated include soaps, washing powder, tins of Milo, Nido, Sardines, biscuits, toilet rolls, clothes, tomato paste, an undisclosed amount of money among other items.
Speaking at the handing over ground, the 2022 Miss McCoy, Benedicta says what they have donated is the little way of supporting the needy in society “even though it may not be enough, we plead you accept the little that we brought” she added. The Queen also stated that, the initiative is to encourage the kids to be hopeful and don't feel dejected because they shall always be there for them.
Rev. Sister Lydia one of the care takers at the orphanage who received the items on behalf of the kids says the Orphanage has been in existence since 1939. She however thanked the students for their benevolence and for remembering the younger ones at the orphanage. She expressed how proud she is to them as students and prayed that God Almighty helps them in all their endeavors.
On the sideline, the King of McCoy, Mr. Dickson called on all stakeholders within and in the diaspora to come to the support of the kids in the St. Joseph’s Orphanage because no one knows what the future holds for them.
