Heavy Downpour Causes Major Disruptions in Parts of Kumasi

A heavy rainfall battered the city of Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana causing major disruptions for students, lecturers, commuters, and traders. The downpour started at around 2 pm and continued for several hours, leading to a chaotic situation in several parts of the city.

One of the worst-hit areas was the stretch leading to the ROB at Aamusted, where students and lecturers were unable to attend lectures between the hours of 2 pm to 5 pm. The heavy rains made it impossible for vehicles to pass through the area and students and lecturers were left stranded.

The situation was not much different in Apatrapa, where commuters and traders also suffered a similar fate. Several roads in the area were flooded, making it difficult for vehicles to pass through. Many people were forced to abandon their vehicles and walk through the flooded streets to get to their destinations.

The downpour serves as a reminder of the need for better infrastructure to deal with heavy rainfall in the city. The government must invest in drainage systems and flood control mechanisms to prevent future disasters. Additionally, residents must be educated on how to protect themselves and their property during heavy rains.
