Background
The EU-Ghana Agriculture Programme (EU-GAP) is the UE's largest programme in Ghana with €132million. The project is geared towards ensuring efficient agricultural practice and competitive agribusiness by constructing feeder roads in selected districts of the Upper West Region of which Nadowli-Kaleo District is included.
During the EU's visit to Upper West Region in May, 2023, the Deputy Head of Mission, Pieter Smidt Van Gelder noted that "the lack of efficient infrastructure is a major bottleneck to the development of agricultural production and processing. Our collective aim is to witness the transformative power these roads hold for the Upper West Region" - Official EU website reports.
In Nadowli-Kaleo District, the road construction seeks to network communities such as Sombo, Nator-Duori, Nanville, Takpo, Kpaala, Saan through to Tagasie and Nadowli.
