Stop The Sectional And Tribal Politics"- Upper West NDC To "Royals" For Bawumia

The National Democratic Congress in the Upper West has not taken kindly of a supposed group, carrying themselves as "Nabiihi" and declaring their unalloyed support for Dr Mahamud Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana who doubles as a Presidential Aspirant in the upcoming NPP presidential primaries. The new group which says it is made of the royal families in the Wala Traditional Kingdom says, the Vice President is the best person with the right experience, vision and track record to lead the NPP and subsequently, the people of Ghana. This comes few days ahead of the NPP special delegate conference. The Vice President is also currently in the Region canvassing for support. 

The NDC in a stern reaction to the pronouncement of the purported Nabiihi, questions the locus of the group in the Traditional Council, describing them as a group of disgruntled NPP members who are trying hard to redeem their dead political fortunes. 

In a statement released and signed by the regional communication officer of the NDC, Issah Kantangyere, he described the Vice President as a failed Vice president with a terrible track record.

A STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE UPPER WEST NDC REGIONAL COMMUNICATION BUREAU IN RESPONSE TO A PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED BY A SPLINTER WAALE NABIIHI GROUP DECLARING THEIR SUPPORT FOR DR. MAHAMUDU BAWUMIA FOR NPP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE 23/08/2023

Our attention has been drawn to a press statement issued yesterday by some self-seeking young men and women who gathered at Yenkpong and supposedly declared their so called support for the failed Vice President as the person with “the requisite qualification, experience, competence, appeals to voters, temperament, vision and strategy to consolidate the gains so far by the NPP government by Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo in its march to transform the structure and accelerate the socio economic Development in today’s technological and digitalized global setting”. 

Granted those guys said all these lofty ideas and tried desperately to extol the virtues of a failed Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia. Why would anyone be telling us about the virtues of Bawumia as if we don’t know him. They are heard talking about his experience, temperament and all the other flowery adjectives they so misapplied on Bawumia. Per Bawumia’s own record as the Head of the Economic Management Team he scored zero on all the economic performance indices that he himself chided Vice President Amissah-Arthur and Mahama with. What is Bawumia’s record? He took a 15.4 percent inflation and shot it to a staggering 43.1 percent an all-time high in the history of the fourth republic. Is that his experience? He took a Cedi: Dollar rate of GHC 4.2: USD 1 and shot it up to GHC 11.35: USD 1, is this what is Bawumia’s experience? Under Bawumia’s watch Ghana has gone on record as the first country with the highest food inflation rate of 122 percent. Under Bawumia Ghanaians have experienced the worst economic hardship with many families barely struggling just to feed. What is Bawumia remembered for worldwide?? He has been credited as the biggest liar who have under his trophy belt an endless list of failed promises, his own statements and lyrical coinages coming back to haunt him like an angry ghost.  Is it the unprecedented debt level that is the experience?? Is it the expired foodstuff that he donated to the Mangu flood victims that gain him the experience?? Is it the GH₵ 75,000 that pilgrims paid to embark on a sacred pilgrimage to hajj that made him experience?? Under a Christian Vice President (John Dramani Mahama), Muslims were treated better and never paid anything closer to what Muslims paid during this year’s hajj. So, to these guys, don’t extol Bawumia’s virtues to us, this is the record we have about him, next joke please! 

We want to also place on record that the so-called authors of the said statement are nothing but disgruntled elements within the NPP who are desperately trying to revive their dead political fortunes under this despotic, arrogant, corrupt, thieving and intransigent Akufo Addo-Bawumia regime. This regime is now known for ʺstealingʺ state resources, public wealth and property without shame. So, when these disgruntled NPP guys parade as so-called Nabiihi and come to tell us about the virtues of the NPP, these are the true records we know about Bawumia and the NPP, the reality check on the ground. Ghanaians have indeed learned a bitter lesson of leadership under the NPP led by Akufo Addo and Bawumia, Ghanaians have become more discerning, despite the state–sponsored intimidation of perceived opponents and “culture of silence” imposed on Ghanaians by the NPP, the lessons were well learnt and Ghanaians say never again trust sweet-talking “Piccadilly con-men and area boys” who come waxing lyrical with vain promises and flowery talks only to sadly disappoint Ghanaians. Indeed, NPP under Akufo Addo – Bawumia are the worst performing President and Vice President in the history of Ghana. So, what different thing about the NPP can these so called ‘nabiihi’ tell us??  We call on NPP delegates and Ghanaians to reject Bawumia since he is part of the current crop of failed government. A vote for Bawuliar will further sink this nation.    

To set the records straight, we wish to state that;  

The Waala Traditional Council by their laws and traditional administrative practice is the only recognized decision-making body of the Waala Traditional Kingdom which is made up the four royal gates. The questions begging for answers are that, at what point did the Waala Traditional Council delegate the so-called “Waale Nabiihi” to issue a statement usurping the lawful authority of the Waala Traditional Council??, Those issuing such mischievous political statements, in what capacity are they acting??, Are they a spokesperson for the Bawumia campaign team? Are they the communication wing of the NPP? Or what is the locus of this statement? Also, the persons issuing such a statement – who are they within the architecture of the Waala Traditional Council?? Obviously, these persons are inconsequential as far as the Waala Traditional Council is concerned, and have no locus to issue any such statement on behalf of any Waale Nabiihi anywhere. 

Information available to us is that these guys are known NPP activists who are just playing political mischief trying to gain recognition with a remote hope of getting crumbs from the VP’s table. These persons are Osman Saaka alias Mba Woo from the Naakpaaha gate and former NPP Wa Central Organizer, Abubakari Mutawakilu Sumaila alias Anyaa from Yijiihi gate and former Wa Central Constituency first vice chairman, Mohammed Sidik alias Yempe Draw and one Iddrisu Bomison, party activist and former Wa Central Constituency Secretary respectively from Naa-Jerri gate. These guys have no official capacity to represent any Waala royal gates anywhere and they are inconsequential and their statement must be discarded and treated with the utmost contempt it deserves.  Regrettably, one of our revered chiefs, Kolpkpong-naa Saalia from the Jonyoohi gate was also present. We would have wished for those guys to use this singular occasion and medium to appeal to the failed Veep to reconsider their government's decision to halt the tarring of the Wa-Sing Kulkpong-Loggu road which was awarded on contract to NASSONA in 2015/16 under H.E John Dramani Mahama and was suspended upon assumption of office by this Nana Addo/Bawumia government.

The issuers of that statement per the dictates of Traditional Administrative system are persons without any lawful authority and their opinion and statement on any issue does not, cannot and certainly did not represent the opinion of the Four Revered Royal Gates of the Waala Traditional Council. 

It is trite knowledge that the Waala Traditional Council is the only recognized highest decision-making body representing all four Waala Royal Gates; Naa-Kpaaha Gate represented by the Guli-Naa, Naa-Jerri represented by Kperisi-Naa, Yijjihi Gate represented by Busa-Naa and Jonyoohi Gate official representative is the Sing-Naa. Our checks with sources at the Waala Traditional Council indicated that the representatives of these four Royal gates very revered chiefs are not aware of and did not sanction any such declaration of support for any political candidate anywhere.

Any such statement in circulation purported to be a declaration of support by the Waala Royal Clans is untrue, the persons acting are inconsequential in the affairs of the Four Royal Gates. 

We therefore call on the general public to disregard and treat with the utmost contempt that the said release deserves.
