VIGILANTE CITIZEN WRITES TO CITI FM, SETTING THE RECORDS ON ALLEGED TERMINATION OF THE APPOINTMENT OF CAREER PUBLIC SERVICE OFFICER.




Dear CITI FM, 

RE- DISCUSSION ON THE TERMINATION OF THE APPOINTMENT OF A CAREER PUBLIC SERVICE OFFICER 

I am a concerned citizen. 

There has been a series of discussions on your esteemed station regarding the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA), particularly about job lay-offs and termination of appointments. Obviously, most of the facts are misrepresented by those who made these allegations. 

The most recent was a discussion on your Morning Show about the termination of the appointment of a staff member via a letter from the Presidency,  insinuating it had been politically motivated and that the government was undermining public service. 

Here are the facts and questions for the said officer to answer: 

1. Was he not appointed a Director in 2020 via a letter from the President signed by the then Secretary to the President, Mr Nana Bediatuo Asante? (copy of letter available and can be made available if the truth is contested)

2. At the time of his appointment, was he not expected to be a Principal Officer? Yet, he was appointed a Director by fiat, contrary to the rules of Public Service. 

3. Was GMA Management, including the DG & Board members, aware of his manoeuvering and attainment of the appointment? (except his alleged connivance with the then Board Chair and Minister of Transport). 

4. Through his actions, was the substantive Deputy Director (his senior for many years - who partly trained him and who was expected to be appointed Director) not left in deep embarrassment and shock in many ways in which she is yet to recover?

5. Are some of his mates not (still) Principal Officers and working at GMA? 

6. If he procured a letter from the seat of government appointing him as a Director, and his appointment is similarly terminated, how is that politically motivated or undermining of public service? 

7. If the government wanted to sack people on the basis of politics, wouldn’t the spouses and family members of key opposition members who are presently working at GMA be sacked by now?  

Please (Citi FM), do not be misled too. All the management members whose appointments were terminated were generally appointed to their positions in the last 3-5 years. So, it is untrue that they are career public servants.

HE WHO SEEKS EQUITY MUST ALWAYS COME WITH CLEAN HANDS.

Lambussie Young Stars Volleyball Club Smashes Host Team to be Crowned Champions in Azumah Volleyball Tournament
