Anti-Corruption Coalition Campaign at Goriyiri Youth Camp

The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) marked International Anti-Corruption Day 2025 with a powerful event in Goriyiri Nadowli Kaleo District, emphasizing the importance of youth involvement in combating corruption. The event, held on December 8, 2025, brought together young people from Goriyiri, with representatives from Local Accountability Networks (LANET), Mr. Enock Danwaah and Mr. Paschal Mwine, leading the discussions.

Mr. Danwaah defined corruption as a longstanding issue hindering Ghana's development, urging youth to take an active role in combating it. He explained various forms of corruption and their effects, quoting the Anti-Corruption Act:

Corruption is a menace that undermines our nation's progress. As Section 1 of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2008 (Act 736) states, a person commits an offence if they engage in corrupt conduct. We must work together to prevent and combat corruption."

Mr. Mwine highlighted the Whistleblowers Act, encouraging young people to report societal ills without fear.

The Whistleblowers Act, 2006 (Act 720) provides protection for those who report corruption. Section 3 states, A whistleblower who makes a protected disclosure is protected from any civil or criminal liability." Don't be afraid to speak out your identity will be protected."

The event featured an open forum where youth asked questions and made recommendations, expressing gratitude for the timely engagement that shed light on previously unknown issues. Youth leader Mr. Julie's Ceaser thanked organizers, including the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and GIZ-funded PAIReD, for their sponsorship.
