DBI Assembly's Sanitation Efforts: A Model for Others?

The DBI Assembly, under the leadership of Hon James Wor, should be commended for its commendable efforts in sanitation management. Sanitation is a vital aspect of governance, given its direct impact on public health. Effective sanitation management is indispensable to the well-being of citizens, as it helps prevent diseases and reduces healthcare costs. The adage "prevention is better than cure" is particularly relevant in this context.

Over the years, sanitation and environmental management have remained a conundrum. Despite government efforts, many Local Assemblies have not prioritized environmental cleanliness, often relying heavily on private companies like Zionlion.

However, the NDC government introduced the National Sanitation Day initiative to promote community involvement and environmental cleanliness. This effort was unfortunately discontinued by the previous NPP government.

The return of John Dramani Mahama to the presidency has revitalized the sanitation campaign, with District Assemblies now prioritizing sanitation management. In the Daffiama, Bussie, Issa District, Hon James Wor has reintroduced the National Sanitation Day, resulting in cleaner communities. The Assembly has demonstrated its capacity to manage sanitation effectively, despite the halted Zionlion contract.

A key factor in this success is the recognition and restructuring of the District Environmental and Sanitation Unit. Under Hon James Wor's leadership, the unit has received the necessary resources and motivation to execute its duties. Environmental officers are now supported by the Assembly and equipped with quality motorbikes to carry out their work.

The DBI Assembly's efforts are a testament to the president's vision for improved sanitation. I have no doubt that DBI will be recognized as one of the best districts in the region for sanitation management. I commend Hon James Wor for his leadership and am confident that this transformation will be sustained.

The people of DBI appreciate the efforts of their DCE, and I pray that God continues to guide and bless him and the Assembly staff.

Indeed, DBI is on the rise.
