Hon. Rose Puozaa Unites Dakpaa and Tuori Through Memorial Match
A football match meant for goals delivered something far greater, peace
and unity, when Hon. Rose Puozaa, Assembly Member for the Dakpaa-Tuori
Electoral Area, brought together the youth of both communities for a powerful
memorial game on April 19, 2026.
According to the Assembly Member, Dakpaa and Tuori have shared bonds of
kinship, yet moments of youthful rivalry, especially during football and other
social gatherings, have sometimes sparked tension. Determined to rewrite that
story, Hon. Rose Puozaa organised the maiden memorial football match, which stands
out as a sport at the heart of the rivalry, in order to inspire reconciliation.
The match, held in memory of the late Hon. Mathias Asoma Puozaa, a
revered former Assembly Member and Member of Parliament known for uniting
people, carried deep emotional significance. His legacy as a peacemaker set the
tone for a day that went beyond competition. Both teams put up their best to
have the match end in a 3-3 draw. Beyond the 3-3 draw shoreline in the match,
the real victory belonged to peace, friendship, and a renewed sense of shared
identity.

Hon. Rose Puozaa says her vision is to make the memorial match an annual
tradition, using it as a platform to strengthen community ties while also
nurturing young football talent. With future awards and structured
opportunities in sight, she believes the initiative could one day produce stars
from Dakpaa and Tuori.
“This is about more than football,” she noted. “It’s about transforming
youthful energy into a force for development and building a legacy of peace for
generations.”
She commended the youth of both communities for their discipline and
commitment, describing the event as a clear sign that unity is possible when
passion is channeled positively.
