Image

In his statement on the floor parliament, he indicated that, the building of the Upper West Regional Hospital has brought a great relief to the people of the Upper West region as numerous healthcare units which were not accessible are now available in the area. Not withstanding the achievements, the hospital's ability to sustain its operational activities is a great challenge to the hospital because of the underlying factors he enumerated before the floor of Parliament. The first challenge he stated is the lack of fund for the hospital to finance its operational activities. This has therefore resulted to the hospital operating on credit basis.  Secondly, he said the hospital is also challenged by un...

THE SEVEN 'BULLETS' LAUNCHED INTO THE SOUL OF GHANA... WA WEST MO WRITES

Image
The Ghanaian child is trained  in a corrupt environment and this largely accounts for the near-silence prevailing in the country under the present circumstances being led by the President, who Lawyer Martin AK Amidu, former Special Prosecutor, described as the *mother* *serpent* *of* *corruption* . This metaphorical description of the President by someone  who has indepth knowledge of the corruption landscape is quite worrying. It's indeed scary looking at what the biblical serpent has done to mankind.  Can we stop the hypocrisy and agree that the rot is real and stinky? We must allow the law to work against this canker or we might as well just institutionalise the evil so  that it can be taxed to generate some revenue. The latter solution sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? But if you consider the daunting challenge we have with laws working in this country, you will realise that it is probably not too far-fetched as a possible solution.  When those in power literal...

THE AVOIDABLE RECKLESSNESS GPGC JUDGEMENT DEBT OF $170M...

Image
We all woke to the insanely unpleasant news of Ghana being slapped with an elephant yet unthinkable amount of $170million as judgement debt and while most of us (I mean, the discerning non-spectators) were struggling to come to terms with this crazy judgement debt, and how it all came about, the man (GHANA's A.G) who represented Ghana in the suit and lost embarrassingly and shamefully, came home and to him, the only face saving tent is to deliberately, and shamelessly draw  the NDC into this needless lost because to him, majority of Ghanaians are so daft that they can't think critically and read in between the lines proper, and again,to him, most Ghanaian journalists aren't patient to read the full judgement, the letter of termination and look for authentic documents (and not unsigned suppose PPA committee report), to properly shaped the public discords and views. How much less the husler man in the street looking for "nokofio"??. It is sad, depressing, stinking a...

LAWRA MP ASSISTS FARMERS WITH TRACTOR SERVICES

Image
Dating back to 2015, the current sitting Member of Parliament Hon. Lawyer Bede A. Ziedeng commenced this enviable Social Intervention by setting up an Agric Mechanization Center in the Lawra constituency. He  brought down four (4) complete sets of tractors and rolled out this project in 2015 during the farming season  and there was a mad rush for his tractor services because  such tractor services were not available and more to  the point, the subsidized nature of his tractor services in the Lawra constituency made it affordable for the farmers. He subsidized his tractor services by 30% compared to other private service providers who came from Techiman and Wenchi. He has continued providing this excellent social intervention up to date and it is the most highly cherished and ever patronised social intervention in the  Lawra constituency since its inception and implementation. Farmers who want to access the service are required to register in the  various zo...

I have Dream to Become a Police Man, “Who Will Protect Me When I Am Protecting the Ordinary Ghanaian?

Image
The insecurity and the rampant killing of policemen under the watch of government is killing my spirit and passion for the love and interest l have for the Ghana Police Service. Let me not pretend to the current happenings in our security sector because of political interest, but to be fair in this write up. How can a serious country spent gargantuan amount on foreign travels but cannot provide bullet proof jackets to her forty thousand (40.000) police men?  Where is the logic here? The huge monies used to hire the private jet could have been used to acquire some of these bullet proof jackets, at least a rescannable number. I  strongly believe our government faculties are not working, but let me only use this write up to appeal to our youth, to desist from criminal activities that affect peace and security in our communities and the country at large. The telenovels we watch today on our television set is a contributory factor to the increased in these criminal activities among...

In a statement released on behalf of the youth wing, by Tampouri Desmond, the youth organizer of NDC, Hon Sebastian Sandaare is described as "a generational leader who works assiduously to create an enviable society of equity". Below is the full statement. "To  call you a father, is just a tip in the iceberg of who you truly are and what you sincerely represent. Some choose to call you the compassionate,  others call you epitome of hope, others say you are love personified, yet others say, you are the people's humble servant. In you, the orphans, widows, less privileged, and every class of society find a radiance of hope and a generational leader who works assiduously to create an enviable society of equity. As the world acknowledges the priceless role of fathers, we the teeming youth of the Daffiama, Bussie, Issa Constituen...

Every father is a legend and must be celebrated.

Image
Every father should be celebrated on this faithful day of 20th June 2021 which marks the day set to be for fathers which we call father's day. My definition of a father is a male legend on earth however, Merriam Webster defines father as any male parent but I think it goes beyond just that. Every individual is brought to this planet by a man. I strongly believe this might call for a debate but I said so because, it is the man who impregnates a woman to give birth to a child. This process therefore makes fathers to be the ones behind our being on earth. As I was growing up as a kid, I noticed that, every male child goes through some form of training so as to prepare him to take up responsibilities. As a guy, no matter how small you were, you were always given a hoe that will enable you learn farming. That is preparation to take responsibilities. You take care of all domestic animals in the family. This imbues in a guy, the caring and patience abilities to take over responsibilitie...

DBI: SANDAARE CELEBRATES ALL FATHERS

Image
As the world marks fathers day today, I wish to congratulates all fathers in and around my constituency for the hustles to put something on the table for the family. The moral decadence and social vices that the society has been bedevilled with, could be linked to men who fail to play their fatherly roles and responsibilities for children do not have the opportunity to imbibe good values from their fathers Real men are those who take good care of the family and teach the children the values and the norms of society such that they would not deviate from those values. Education is one of the best legacies responsible fathers could bequeath their children to ensure their welfare in future. It is important for men to be truthful and transparent to their wives in all aspects of life so as to earn the trust of the family, which is the ideal way to consolidate family bond and solidarity. It's a divine duty for fathers to be God's symbol for the family by providing physical protectio...

"KNOW THAT THERE IS TOMORROW" Awudu

Image
Whenever you are dealing with people, you must always remember that there is tomorrow and you might need them tomorrow. You may end up needing help from the people who are asking for your help today so help them. Life is like a moving wheel, sometimes you are up and sometimes you are down. Sometimes we destroy the bridges that we might need to help us cross back tomorrow. Sometimes we treat people as though there is never going to be tomorrow. We sometimes act as though we will never need help from anyone. Remember there's tomorrow.  Joseph helped the cupbearer in prison and later the cupbearer connected Joseph with Pharaoh.  Imagine how  Portiphar’s wife felt when she heard that Joseph was now the Governor of Egypt after she had falsely accused him. The brothers who sold Joseph away ended up been fed by him. Don't ever think of going to the extreme with your offenders, they might be rescuers tomorrow. Always remember there is tomorrow and it will surely come...

Criminal incidents in the country does not mean an increase in crime -Ambrose Dery

Image
Citizens of Ghana griped in fear as recent killing of a police officer escorting a bullion van in Accra, roberry and other criminal cases have been reported. Its led to citizens of the country, calling upon the government and the security agencies to up their game and get rid, if not decrease the situation. It was on this note that the interior minister Hon. Ambrose Dery vehemently reject the assertion that the government has lost the fight against crime in the country. He said the fact that such criminal incidents happen in the country does not mean that crime is on the increase. The ranking member on the Defence and interior committee in parliament James Agalga, addressing the media said;  “Four more years for Nana [Akufo-Addo] has begun with a rise in crime. Ghanaians no longer feel safe compared to our immediate past. Violent crime-related cases, particularly robbery, are shaking the foundations of our nation, and it is only fair and a duty for us to call on the Nana Aku...

The Teachers' Promotions Crisis- a teacher writes...

Image
It is with deep sorrow and regret that I chronicle this article. "A country that does not recognises its heroes, is not worth dying for". The teachers' promotion debacle has pressed a panick bottom in the lives of many a young teachers. There is every reason worry. This incident has unreservedly provoked the rank and file of the Ghanaian teacher. We deserve better treatment than the way we are being treated. Enough of the disrespect! Enough of the discrimination and selective treatment! Teachers must stamp our feet on the ground and conquer this battle.  It is deeply worrying and so demoralising watching a professionally trained teacher weep uncontrollably in open camera for promotion. It is brazely unfathomable why the teaching profession is still being relegated to the background upon all the strides and milestones it has chalked in this country. When will government stop paying lips services to the Ghanaian teacher?  A lot of things are not going on well with the Ghana...

Let's develop and sell our uniqueness - Speaker

Image
The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Alban S. K. Bagbin has charged African countries to focus on developing an identity that is linked with its heritage.  According to him, the continent is losing out among the comity of nations mainly because it hasn’t been able to clearly define its priorities and pursue an agenda that is unique to its heritage. The Speaker was addressing a delegation from the Pan African Writers Association (PAWA) in Parliament on Thursday.  The delegation, led by the association's Secretary General, Dr Wale Okediran paid a courtesy call on the Speaker to solicit for his support in engaging the relevant government institutions to immediately implement the relevant provisions of an agreement that was signed between the government and the association in 1992.  The agreement, according to Dr Okediran stipulated among other things, that the government would provide some facilities to PAWA to enable it run effectively.  He said since the agreemen...

Inclusive party governance key for democracy- Speaker

Image
The time has come for political parties to redefine its structures and ensure the active participation of the youth in decision making, the Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban S. K. Bagbin has said.  He said the present political system in the country did not adequately respond to the needs and challenges that confront young people and therefore called for a more inclusive approach to addressing such issues.  The Speaker made the appeal in an address to mark Denmark’s Constitution Day and 60 years of diplomatic relations between Denmark and Ghana. The event, was held virtually under the theme, “Inclusive party governance and the future of democracy”. Acknowledging the the strides Denmark had made over the years in deepening inclusive party governance, including women and youth participation in decision making, he said there was a lot Ghana needed to learn from that country.  “Governments have a critical role to play with respect to the inclusiveness of policy-making pr...
