It is never a misconception to say politicians venture into politics to enrich themselves - Oswald Ali to Bin Salih

Image
Joseph Oswald Ali, a renowned journo in the Upper West Region has punched holes into the speech of the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, during Wednesday's swearingh-in ceremony of the 8 confirmed MDCEs held at the SEM- B Lodge in Wa. He refuted claims by the minister suggesting that the opinion held by many claiming people who go into politics often do so ostensibly to amass wealth in order to enrich themselves is a misconception. He said it's erroneous on the part of the minister to say so when he is very aware of how MDCEs and other public officials involved themselves in corrupt deals auctioning government vehicles to themselves, erecting mansions, buying state lands among others. According to him, Dr. Hafiz may just be pretending but in actual fact, he is clearly in the know that in reality, party politics in this part of the world is about amassing wealth from every possible means available to the person. He intimated that the primary aim of the MDCEs i...

PASSAGE OF LGBTQI+ BILL: STOP THE INTIMIDATIONS AND LET DEMOCRACY PREVAIL.

Image
An American top politician, a man widely celebrated as the father of democracy, Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of America, summarily defined democracy as a government of the people, by the people and for the people. In my considered opinion, the above succinct definition of democracy from the western world settles the debate surrounding the passage of the LGBTQI+ Bill. Majority of Ghanaians do not support the LGBTQI+ way of life as it is considered an affront to our cultural norms and values as the country is predominantly a Traditional, Christian and Muslim nation. Those who have the penchant of questioning the Ghanaian values do not respect us as a people. As a sovereign democratic nation, the Ghanaian people, through the Parliament of Ghana and other democratic institutions such as the Council of Chiefs, have the sovereign right, as inshrigned in the 1992 constitution, to, among other things, decide how they want to live, guided by a widely accepted moral code of conduct....

ANOTHER LIFE SEASON COMPLETED ON ME

Image
How do I start it and end it? I am spontaneously joyously moody,  Extremely grateful to the Almighty God (Allah) for the realization of this magnificent day in my life,  Father, it's by your avalanche of graces and mercies that i am celebrating another year today. Upon realization, I took a deep breath, dust off, and took a mental picture into my life having returned from my humble plantation and slouched my shriveled gluteal muscles in my grandpa's eons armchair that was bequeathed to me by him And in this mental picture exercise, I realized, that, Almighty God has never ever led me down in so many regards. Notwithstanding the inresistible hurdles, setbacks, difficulties, challenges, Jesus in the vessel, the storms were weathered and calmed. In my mental picture exercise, the setbacks, the shortfalls, and what have you couldn't move me into teary, but rather an irresistibly intrinsic smile erupted like a volcano on my cheeks, because a question came ringing in my mind,...

Age is just a number, leadership is a skill - meet the young but vibrant Assembly member of our time.

Image
Many scholars have come up with numerous definitions of leadership. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines leadership as the capacity to lead whilst the U.S Air force defines leadership as "the art of influencing and directing people in such a way that will win their obedience, confidence, respect and loyal co-operation in achieving common objectives". What this means is that, a leader needs to mentor and coach others in a way that commands respect and confidence in the vision you put forth. Who is this vibrant and visionary leader of our time that we will love to know? He is in the person of Honourable Nestor Mwinterebo who is 26 years of age and currently the Assembly member for Goriyiri electoral area of the Nadowli-Kaleo District in the Upper West region of Ghana. Hon. Nestor Mwinterebo contested the December 2019 Assembly elections and because of his competence and high sense of leadership skills among other numerous qualities, he was unopposed in the Assembly membership...

Full Press Statement By Lawra MP On Support of Students

Image
Good morning to you ladies and gentlemen of the media. I welcome you to this media encounter in which I wish to brief you on efforts I am making to fulfil some of my campaign promises. In the run up to the 2020 parliamentary election I promised to set up an Educational Trust Fund to be known as the Lawra Constituency Educational Support Fund which would provide some financial assistance to  brilliant but needy students in the constituency. Preparatory and consultative work is still on going to establish the Fund. In the meantime, there were demands made on me long before I won the election and  others made  soon after the elections.  Many students came to me appealing for support and some of their cases are very pathetic and need to be given attention even  before the establishment of the fund. It is on account of this plea that I decided to use part of my Common Fund allocation  to assist some of such students pending the establishment of the Support Fund....

CELEBRATING THE MAN HON ALAN JOHN KWADWO KYEREMANTENG AT SIXTY-SIX (66)

Image
On October 3, 1955, a very cheerful, handsome and innocent child was born. He has grown into a very charismatic and purposeful leader and politician leaving his footprints in the sands of time wherever his feet touch. An accomplished lawyer and economist, Hon Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng has undoubtedly paid his dues to nation Ghana and the New Patriotic Party in particular. His involvement and sterling contributions to the Danquah-Busia Club in the lead up to the formation of the current New Patriotic Party as well as his unimpeachable and impeccable record as a minister and ambassador under the erstwhile John Agyekum Kufuor regime bears ample testimony to his character and quality.   It is little or no wonder therefore to have seen him among the first batch of ministers appointed by H.E Akufo Addo in thr return of the NPP to power in 2017 as well as the second term of President Akufo Addo. In the five years of the Akufo Addo government, the Ministry of Trade and Industry under...
